Structure of the Ars Tonelica

Structure of the Ars Tonelico, Top-down

Rinkernator: Top 500 feet, this is a tall, thin spire surrounded by heavy piping and cabling, leading to a platform at the top from which the Administrator can control the tower, with a transceiver ring hovering a few meters above.

SPU (Song Processing Unit): 250 feet, consists of a massive central unit that processes songs from the Rinkernator before passing them down to the Grathnode discs. Many small chambers here to contain coolant systems and cabling to lower levels

Observatory: 250 feet, this area contains many floors outfitted for astronomical observation and links to the SPU for data processing and research. Not a strictly necessary part of the Tower, but most have it (excepting Pico).

Grathnode Discs: These active memory discs are a stack that takes up 1000 feet of the tower - they move requests down to the Goddesses, and move return songs and magical effects to the Rinkernator. Supposedly, they can hold 10,000 years of data and retrieve it swiftly for those with administrative privileges. Pico’s is a scant 100 feet high, cut back to save build time. Each disc is 10 feet thick and spaced 10 feet from the next one.

Song Server: This is a memory bank about 500 feet high, made of stacked octahedral crystals connected by copper filaments, with semipermanent storage (can only be modified by a tower supervisor or administrator), that contains all known and accepted Song data and Song combinations. The names, biometrics, and detailed holographic images of all who have ever drawn on the Tonelico’s magic are automatically and permanently stored here. This storage happens the first time a user draws magic from the Ar Tonelico. There is enough storage space for around 10 billion users, after which the oldest user record is automatically deleted. Pico's Song Server is much smaller, only 1/5 of the usual size.

Ion Corridor: This 1000-foot set of exposed columns is surrounded by a series of 20 floatings discs, each 100 feet in diameter and forged of synthetic material, spiraling up around the section. Inside the columns are nothing but tubes and conduits - a single elevator runs up the side of one pillar, and a spiraling scaffold betwen the discs provides stairs in case of an elevator failure. This section stabilizes the top of the tower and safeguards against electrical and magical surges. Pico's smaller size reduces the need for such a large ion corridor, thus it is only 500 feet tall, with 10 floating discs.

Symphonic Reactor: This 1500-foot section is the largest, most important, and most dangerous part of the tower. A small chamber in its center contains a singularity, which draws in cosmic background noise which it then converts to song energy through a massive network of amplifiers and relays, and amplifies magic output by the Goddesses to enable spells to manifest at their destination.

Ardelberg Buffer: This 1000-foot tall chamber contains a huge, floating octahedral crystalline structure 350 feet across, with a couple hundred feet of wireless transfer equipment above and below it. The crystal converts data to and from a Goddess-readable form for magical transference and temporarily holds this data when excessive requests are placed on the Tonelico. Pico's Ardelberg Buffer is 500 feet tall, and the crystal is only 250 feet across.

Goddess Chamber: The core of the tower, this 500-foot-tall section consists of a single chamber housing the Goddesses and the life support systems that maintain them, as well as the inputs and outputs to and from the chamber.

Hydroponic Array: This self-sustaining hydroponic array collects atmospheric water and provides nutrients to the Goddesses. It’s 250 feet tall.

Parameno Discs: This 250 foot tall section is made up of 4 floors, each containing a Parameno disc. These discs collect magical energy bleedoff, converting it to sonic waves that are passed down to the Parameno Room.

Parameno Room: A single room 250 feet tall, containing sonic collectors and converters. This energy is used to power the Ar Tonelico itself, unlike the Symphonic Reactor, which only amplifies the Goddesses’ replies to Songs and incantations.

Fuse Core: This 500-foot section contains tens of thousands of fuses and breakers, as well as many computational engines, and regulates and distributes power within the Ar Tonelico produced by the Parameno array. Pico's fuse core is 300 feet tall.

Manufactory: Accounting for 750 feet of the tower, the manufactory produces replacement parts and recycles broken and worn out components, with a remarkable 95% efficiency. Pico has a much smaller manufactory, only 100 feet tall, and most of the larger parts it needs are created in Tonelico Prima and shipped through the Frontier Gate to Nu Gransen.

Chamber of Advancement: This section is 500 feet tall, and contains laboratories and various equipment for researching both science and magic, as well as developing enhancements to the Tonelico. Pico has a much smaller Chamber, only 150 feet high.

Support Structures: The bottom 1250 feet of the tower consist of a stabilization field generator, living quarters, a teleportation stabilizer to allow quick travel to specific points within the Tonelico, food production facilities, and offices.

The support structures are around 1/4 mile wide at the base, tapering off to 800 feet at the top.The tower proper, from the Chamber of Advancement up, ranges from 250-500 feet wide, with the Ion Corridor being the narrowest section, up to the Rinkernator. The spire starts around 200 feet wide, but tapers off to just 50 feet across at the top.
