Madness Domain

You embrace the madness that lurks deep in your heart, and can unleash it to drive your foes insane or to sacrifice certain abilities to hone others. We do live in a society.

Granted Powers

Vision of Madness (Sp): You can give a creature a vision of madness as a melee touch attack. Choose one of the following: attack rolls, saving throws, or skill checks. The target receives a bonus to the chosen rolls equal to ½ your cleric level (minimum +1) and an equal penalty to the other two types of rolls. This effect fades after 3 rounds. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.

Aura of Madness (Su): At 8th level, you can emit a 30-foot aura of madness for a number of rounds per day equal to your cleric level. Enemies within this aura are affected by confusion unless they make a Will save with a DC equal to 10 + ½ your Cleric level + your Wisdom modifier. The confusion effect ends immediately when the creature leaves the area or the aura expires. Creatures that succeed on their saving throw are immune to this aura for 24 hours. These rounds do not need to be consecutive.

Domain Spells: 1st—confusion (lesser), 2nd—touch of idiocy, 3rd—oneiric horror, 4th—confusion, 5th—nightmare, 6th—phantasmal killer, 7th—insanity, 8th—scintillating pattern, 9th—weird.

Subdomains

Subdomains replace certain elements of their parent domain. You may choose one subdomain when selecting a given domain.

Insanity

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the vision of madness power of the Madness domain.

Insane Focus (Su): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, granting it a +4 bonus on all saving throws made against mind-affecting effects and immunity to confusion. This bonus lasts for 1 minute. If the creature fails a saving throw against a mind-affecting effect during this period, it loses its all of the benefits and is immediately confused for one round. You can use this ability once every 10 minutes.

Replacement Domain Spells: 4th—moonstruck, 6th—phantasmal web, 8th—life of crime.

Truth

Replacement Power: The following granted power replaces the aura of madness power of the Madness domain.

Mithril-foil Hat (Ex): At 8th level, your knowledge of the truth that is out there leads you to master the use of mithril foil to protect your mind. Once per day, you can construct a hat from 1/4 ounce of mithril with 10 minutes of work. This hat occupies your helmet item slot. While you wear it, you are ver yhard to detect with divinations. This functions as a mind blank spell, except that its protection is ignored by a creature with at least 4 more caster levels than you have cleric levels. The hat does not work for anyone else, and crumbles to dust after 24 hours, its protection spent.
