Drake Rider

Most cowboys herd cows, as the name would suggest. Some, in the mountains of Bacca, care for more dangerous charges. Giant winged chupacabras inhabit these mountains. These creatures are renowned for their meat, but are extremely dangerous to gather and keep in order. Therefore, the ones responsible for their care have taken to using drakes. They imprinted on their companion during hatching, and raise the drake from a young age to work together as a team.

Drake Rider (Ex)

A drake rider gains a drake companion as detailed here, with the following caveats:

• Most drakes are loyal allies rather than lazy contrarians

• The drake companion gains size increases at levels 1, 3, 5, and 13, rather than at the levels on the table.

• All drakes innately have the mount power, and take no penalties to flight for using this power. They must still be large enough to carry their rider.

The drake companion is treated as a mount for the purposes of any cowboy abilities that pertain to mounts.

In exchange, the drake rider loses the Mounts, Wild empathy, Wilderness Stride, and Speak with Master features, and learns one less trick of the trade at level two.
